Just a month ago, Nokia surprised us with the camera-centric Lumia 1020 boasting the epic 41megapixel Pureview camera which we saw first on the late Symbian-powered 808 Pureview smartphone. The announcement really buzzed the bloggers around the world and even me, I still have hanged-over on it (the Nokia Lumia 1020 has the power to seduce the world especially those who wants extraordinary experiences in smartphone). After just a week from the released of 1020, Nokia added up a new sibling to its Lumia portfolio. The Finnish company’s Lumia 625 followed up the line with its 4.7inch touchscreen on top making him the first-ever big lumia to date. More than that Lumia 625 has LTE-connectivity and the cheapest LTE-capable smartphone in land.
Let’s move forward, it seems that Nokia is on ring and unstoppable to blow punches, continue to show the world what they got. After the success launched of 925, 1020 and 625, Nokia is planning to out the must be “largest” Windows Phone device later this year. According to the report of The Verge, the Finnish OEM is currently testing the “big addition” to the Lumia clan. Dubbed as Nokia Bandit, the smartphone is said to have 6 inch 1080p display and obviously, the Windows Phone 8 O.S. would be under the hood. We’ve already seen smartphones playing around with full-HD displays like S4, Xperia Z ultra, HTC One and the just unveiled LG G2. Now (it’s not too late), we will finally see a Nokia Lumia to join the craze and I hope it won’t lead us to disappointment. So let’s keep praying. Anyways, the Bandit is also rumored to be energized by a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor (hopefully) and the RAM, the tipster didn’t give any details about the RAM but being in to phablet state I’m sure Nokia will adopt same kind from the 1020. But let’s hope that Nokia will put lots of RAM on this device so it can go for the competition against the alleged HTC One Max and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
Moreover, the tipster told The Verge that Bandit will ship a rear camera at least 20-megapixels and will have same back appearance to the Lumia 925.
Update: Windows Phone Central confirmed that the alleged Bandit will have 6″ 1080p display, quad-core procs and 20MP rear camera with hump similar to 925.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is currently improving their mobile OS to support devices with 1080p displays like Bandit. The software-giant was revealed currently on work with General Distribution 3 a.k.a GDR3 update which according to them will bring features like rotation lock, some UI changes, driving mode and sync to pc for text messages. Also there will be additional columns to the Live Tiles at the start screen so to accommodate devices with larger screens. The company is aiming to finalize the said update in mid-September and maybe it will come first through Nokia Bandit and other new devices before it rolls out to existing devices before the year ends.
